Indoor Tulips. Fill a glass container abt 1/3 of the way with marbles or rocks. Use clear glass to watch the roots develop. Then set the tulip bulb on top of the marbles or stones; pointed end UP. Add a few more marbles so that the tulip bulb is surrounded but not covered (think support). Pour fresh water into it. Th water shouldn't touch the bulb, but it should be close, so roots grow into it.
Plants have best friends just like people do. Marigolds help tomatoes and roses grow better. Nasturtiums keep bugs away from squash and broccoli. Petunias protect beans from beetles and oregano chases them away from cucumbers. Geraniums keep Japanese beetles away from roses and corn. Chives make carrots sweeter, and basil makes tomatoes even tastier.
