I am thinking of enrolling my 3 yr old into karate classes. This is basically to teach her self-defense moves but my friend says that these classes are seldom of much help. In case of an attack, kids will not be able to defend themselves from their attackers. Now I am in a dilemma as to enroll her or not. Is she too young for the classes? Read More...karate classes are definitely useful, for one your child will atleast let go the hesitation to hit someone in self defense. It teaches you even street fight moves. I wish personally I had time to pursue this but i am happy my kid is learning taekwondo in Orchids. I take it very seriously. -

It’s sad to see how these big chains have no way to check what happens in all their branches. The Euro Kids BTM Layout is one classic example-they have all fancy play equipment but sadly the kids are not allowed to play in them. When we asked the teacher she said they are very costly and so the owner has told them to not let the kids play in them too much. The same for the other stuff stated in the brochure like library books, computer time, water play and gym time. The kids are made to sit in front of the PC in the Principal’s office and watch some stuff and it’s called computer time. No hands on experience. Again when we asked the teacher why the answer was the same-it’s very costly and kids spoil computers and books! Why open a preschool if you don’t intend to allow them to touch anything? Open a Museum instead!
The teachers are also not trained to handle little kids-the inexperience shows in the fact that they have no patience with kids. They have no Montessori training or Pre Primary Teacher training, NTT or other similar qualifications-just regular housewives or fresh graduates! It's not like they have many kids to handle-just 8-10 kids/class and they can't seem to handle even that much! Read More...Haha, museum is the right word. Shocking to learn that about Euro Kids. I think Orchids BTM is decent enough. It too has many facilities. -

The easiest solution to encourage outdoor activities in children to make them participate in extra-curricular activities in schools like Basket Ball, Skating, Swimming, Volley Ball, etc.. What I have found out is that after my kid started to go for these activities which are mandatory once the kids join in schools like Orchids, I see a lot of change in my kid. He seems to be more energetic and active. Also, he can study well. As parents, you can encourage the kids to pick up some sports. -
