How can parents know if their child is nervous before the exams? How can parents help kids prepare for tests? How to help child to calm down?
To read the related article, click here. Read More...
There are at times when children might start complaining about headache just before exam, this might be a symptom that your child is nervous because of the exam he is about to give and maybe the child does not want to give the exam so is giving excuses or genuinely has a head ache. Give your child some water and help him relax, make him calm down and tell him that there is no need to panic and just focus and remember what you have learnt. Also tell him that there is no need to be scared and you are with him always.

Which activities can help to boost child’s memory? Till what age is it possible to sharpen and polish child’s memory? Which foods can help to enhance child’s memory?
To read the related article, click here. Read More...
It is our responsibility to show our children how to do tasks without stress and anxiety. When you show the children how to do the task they will follow you can give them a chance to perform the task so that they learn it. Make sure that the tasks are not out of the children’s league but are simple. Children will make mistakes but do not shout at them, let them practise so that they can do that better. It is necessary for us to have a conversation with our children daily, just a casual conversation where you can ask him about his school, friends, studies. You can get to know where your child is having trouble and accordingly you can help your child.

There are some children who are scared of the subject and that is why they are unable to learn the subject and try to ignore and run away from it how much ever possible. This is due to lack of confidence and also because they are not understanding the subject in such case you should help them and make them feel motivated so that they do not feel that they do not understand the concept and also the fact that when they are motivated they will be confident and will be able to remove their fear and concentrate easily.

Which vegetables should be included in the diet of kids? Why do kids hate eating green vegetables? How to make kids eat green vegetables?
To read the related article, click here. Read More...
Hi, we are the role models of our children and kids tend to do or eat what they see their parents doing or eating. If you give off the green vegetables to your kids and yourself sit with a plate of French fries, then your kids will never learn to eat the veggies. You should be eating the same food you are offering to your kids, because if they notice you eating the green vegetables with satisfaction in front of them, they will try to follow the same. Your persistence will pay off soon. I am pretty sure they will start eating the vegetables without complaining.

Do your children have trouble giving voice to their feelings? Do you think Emotional Intelligence is more important than Intelligence (IQ)? Do you feel that Emotional Quotient (EQ) should be nurtured in school's course curriculum?
To read the related article, click here. Read More...
Hello, I think every parent should develop emotional intelligence in their children as it also helps in the development of the emotional self-awareness in children. When children develop it properly they will start understanding their feelings and also understand the importance of sharing the emotions and feelings with parents and other peers. Once they understand their feelings they will also understand how to handle their feelings and manage them properly, it will also help them understand in front of whom to open up and how to handle the stress. Parents can help the children and support their feelings when required.

It would easier for the kids to pay more attention and enjoy the subject if we correlate the topics with real world or examples. By doing this s/he would not only understand the bookish words but also follow them in future. It's good to indulge them in sports/activities that teach them collaboration, team work, efforts, hard work and brainstorming along with entertainment. Proactively encourage them to do what they want to. Internet is a great place if utilized effectively, help them to explore new things about their subject on it. By doing this they will learn few extra things which will build confidence when they share it with their friends at school and outside. Read More...
Some parent only tell their children to read and learn from the books. This should not be done as you cannot restrict your child to stay within the walls of your house. Let the child be free and get involved in sports and other curricular activities. This way children can learn to socialise and gel up with other people and also learn to be patient. Involving the child in sports can help him learn team work and the feeling of unity. All of these thing are necessary for the child to learn and use of internet can be helpful if used correctly.

my daughter back answers and if i tell her not to do it, she says that if I do not answer then also you will scold. I tried explaining her the idfference between back answering and answering but she is in no mood to listen. How can i discipline her? Read More...
It is important for the children to know that every time they won’t be excused or forgiven for their behaviour. Sometimes they might even have to face the consequences, let them know when you discuss their behaviour. Let them know the consequences which they would have to face like they won’t be able to watch TV or play with their favourite play station or will not get to use the i-pad. Let him or her be aware of it earlier itself so that they don’t be shocked after getting the punishment. It is important that you stick to the rules and the protocols so that the child does not feel that the matter is not serious.

To read the related article, click here. Read More...
It is difficult for majority of the parents to discuss about sex, puberty and masturbation with their children as they are quite shy and also feel awkward about it. But if you keep the conversations natural and quite casual then it won’t be embarrassing for you and the children both. Try to keep the conversations ongoing and discuss small topics whenever possible but face to face. Having direct conversations is more effective and it is also important for them to know about safe sex, after which age and when it should be done, what precautions should be taken and what are the consequences.

my daughter has a problem of lice. I use medicated shampoos and get rid of the lice but she seems to catch the infection from school. this has been happening for many times. Is there any way to prevent this? Read More...
Hello, a person already having lice in their head should not share their things with others. Their belongings and personal things may carry the lice and be contaminated. Children in school go hand in hand sit together and almost do all things together and hence the lice are transferred from heads. Maintaining a hygienic haircare routine can help you get rid of the lice and bacteria. It is necessary that you wash your child’s hair at least twice a week. Maintaining this routine can help them have a clear scalp and bacteria free head. Make sure to follow the cleansing routine properly.

My 5 year old boy is having problems with Peer Relationships. He is a cheerful child, likes to make friends, is liked by his teachers and is very well socially accepted. However, everywhere he goes to like school or activity classes he gets hooked to one friend and gets very possessive about that one friend. For e.g in his dance classes he always wants to be with a friend Arjun and if Arjun does not stand along side him he gets upset.
Another example is in his school bus if his friend Riyan does not sit with him he starts crying or looking for ways to woo Riyan to sit with him like offering chocolates.
I feel this is not a healthy way of having/building relationships. Please advice Read More...
I feel choosing one friend over others is simply not a big deal and can be seen in many children. The fact that children like talking and sharing to a person who has same interest and hence they get attached to them and even face peer pressure under the name of being friends. Usually at this age they do not know much and tend to get attached and emotional and possessive over a friend. You can also teach them to make friendship with others and also help them to socialise more and be compatible to all.

Does your child throw tantrums in public? Have you ever had an embarrassing moment because of your child’s behaviour? How would you control your child?
To read the related article, click here. Read More...
It is very embarrassing when your child is acting up in public places and all the eyes are on you. Do not worry and care about all these things as every parent undergoes from such situations. There are rarely very few children you might find who are really quiet and sincere and who listen to their parents, buts majority of them fall in the acting up case. You try your hardest to try to control your child but it is hard to control. Finally you end up leaving the place and you might notice that your child has stopped crying.

My son is very skinny. His diet is good and he has no health issues but still he does not seem to put on weight. Can exercises help him in putting on weight? Please advise. Read More...
Hello all, I recommend you that have your child focused on eating. Turn off the TV and computer and when he is eating let him concentrate on it and put away all the distractions aside and set some ground rules during meals. Add some boosters to his diet like skim milk powder, dried fruits, nuts, cheeses, cereals and vegetables mashed so that he does not know. You can also send his for gymnastics or karate or to do some cardio exercises so that he can have a growth of weight. Some push ups daily can also help in build those extra muscles required.
