Do your children have trouble giving voice to their feelings? Do you think Emotional Intelligence is more important than Intelligence (IQ)? Do you feel that Emotional Quotient (EQ) should be nurtured in school's course curriculum?
To read the related article, click here. Read More...
Firstly, it is necessary that all the parents understand the meaning of emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is the capability of a person to express and handle his feelings properly in a productive manner. Today children’s intelligence quotient as well as emotional quotient is crucial and the parents need to help their children in developing it. When children are feeling low and depressed the exact reason behind it is not known by the parents unless the children tell them. It is important that the children learn to express their feelings in front of their parents so that the parents can help them.

Why are some children unable to concentrate on studies? How to help children develop better concentration while studying? How to prevent concentration problems in children?
To read the related article, click here. Read More...
Hello, you can improve your child’s concentration by setting some goals for the children so that they focus on completing it. Setting goals does not mean that you set some high goals for the kids, let the goals be small and achievable. You can tell your child to finish a puzzle in 10 minutes or read something for 20 minutes without any break and disturbance. Such small goals can help the child to be more focused and also help in the increase of their concentration. Appreciate them for achieving those goals and gradually let them set their own goals.

When the dice is thrown then the number which comes the player has to move forward and if he gets a ladder he can go up or if he is swallowed by a snake he has to come down. Does your child lie? What are the common causes for the development of habit of lying children? How can parents control the habit of lying in children?
To read the related article, click here. Read More...
Today the fact is that majority of the children lie and hide things from parents. One of my friend’s son had a very bad habit of lying and had a habit of lying quite often. She tried to find out the reason behind his lying and got to know that he did not get what he wanted and what his friends had so he lied so that he could get those things. But there are also children who do not lie more frequently, but very rarely. Children who lie consistently are sure to not feel good about themselves. This problem should be solved and sorted out if the matter gets serious.

To read the related article, click here. Read More...
As parents it is our duty to find out whether our child is having any kind of difficulties in their life or not. We should look through it and take care of our children because they will never speak up to you unless you ask them. The main aim should be to find the cause of the stress. Once you know what is bothering your child you can find a solution to that and eliminate the stress from your child’s life. Assure him that he is doing his best and appreciate him so that he feels motivated and encouraged to do things without stress.

hi..i have 4 year old son and he is extremely brilliant and his IQ is very good and this has been observed by all his teachers, but he is very active and little naughty that while running he will not see that somebody got hurt from him and become angry and push someone, but he realize his mistake also, so his school has advised me to keep a shadow teacher, but im not able to understand does he really require that ?? please help Read More...
Even I agree with the above comment, your child does not require a shadow teacher. A shadow teacher is extremely helpful to those whom the teacher is not able to understand properly. Mostly a shadow teacher is required by students who need help and have learning disability. Yes a shadow teacher is not required by your child and as he has no such disabilities and is perfectly fine. You can also tell the teacher by meeting her at the school that he is a bit over-active and hence tends to be excited for everything and these things will be brought under control.

My 7 yr old insists on watching TV shows like Chhota Bheem on a daily basis as the friends in schools and classes hold a daily discussion on the topics. I need to stop this as it is upsetting to him mimic these fictional characters all day long. Read More...
Hi I can understand your problem as even I have been through this when my son was small. It is quite natural as children start growing up they start making their own choices and these peers have a lot of impact during these days as they are surrounded by them during school hours, classes. These peers play an important role in their life as they are away from home spending most of their time with them than us. During this time they tend to develop close friendships and get connected to each other by same likings, choices and try to get compatible.

When can the paternity leave be taken? How does paternity leave help father? How does paternity leave benefit the mother?
To read the related article, click here. Read More...
Hello I work in the central government and they allow a mandatory paternity leave. I was granted a paternity leave during my wife’s pregnancy for almost 15 days which is quite satisfying. I could take care of my wife and my new born baby and was there for them when they needed me. This leave has been quite helpful for me. I had to apply for the leave in prior almost 15 days before the due date so that my leave was granted.

My in-laws are always finding fault with me. For every small thing, from the way I dress to the my cooking - they keep criticizing me. they even complain about me to our neighbours and family people.

I do everything they say, I dress like they say, I cook with the exact same recipe that my mother-in-law used, but still they just love complaining about me.

Telling my husband is useless as he always takes his parents' side and tells me that i am over-reacting and that it must have been my fault. I am feeling very stressed and am holding my patience and silence but it is getting more and more difficult to listen to all this without snapping back. I dont want to create fights and tensions. Can someone suggest how can i make my unhappiness come across to my husband in a way that he will not blame me and talk to my in-laws to lay off me? Read More...
There are majority of women in India who are treated poorly by their in-laws. This should not be happening, if you cannot take a stand for yourself you can never be independent and confident. Not taking a stand for yourself can also set a bad example in front of your children. It is important that you recruit your partner. It is his family and he needs to be on your side as you are leaving yours and joining his. Everything you confront should be between you, your partner and his family. You should be very clear about what you feel.

What should be done when kids stop listening to their parents? Is it correct to punish the child if he or she does not listen to his or her parents? What are effective ways to get kids to listen to parents? Read More...
Children do not listen to their parents, then parents should start tricking them. When you ask your child to wear his shoes for school but he does not from the next day you try and not to keep his shoes ready to wear, so that he searches for it in hurry and let his school bus leave without him. Make him realise if he does not listen and act arrogant such consequences he’ll have to face every day. This might be like a lesson for him when he gets a late remark for coming school late and the teachers scolds him for being late in front of everyone.

my in-laws take care of my son. I am completely at ease when they are around. I do not have to worry about his food, homework or anything else. they take care of all his needs. Read More...
Having grandparents around is the best possible thing for the kids. Today grandparents take care of their grandkids in the absence of their parents. Having them around is a boon and quite beneficial for all in the house. During an emergency when the child is not feeling well, the grandmother can use some home remedies and cure the emergency which we might not even know. Visiting the paediatrician every time is not possible and during emergencies kid’s grandparents come to the rescue. You should feel lucky enough if your in laws are that helpful.

My son is 8 years old and his behavior had changed a lot in one year. Today we found that his blazer has some yellow color paint and told him he has to wear sweater instead of blazer. Also told since you went to the 'Art room' it must had happened from there. Then he had started claiming that he didn't do that. We agreed on the same, it had happened accidentally. After this talk he had started complaining that you both are always like this and you told get out, you beat me/you pinched me..we do punish him very rarely. Without remembering why did we punish him he is repeating the same sentences every now and then with exaggeration. How to make him understand how to talk to parents with respect? How can he control his anger? Read More...
Hi, it is seen that when a child breaks his toy during his tantrums, he might blame you for it and you might defend yourself by saying that you did not do it. You might feel that the toy he broke was because of the child’s mistake. It is important that you try to motivate the child to have a sense of forgiveness and hope. Try to discuss and tell the child when he is calm that not everybody gets a second chance in life and he should have a sense of forgiving people. Also tell him that good behaviour will keep him more happier and keep others happy as well.

My friend's son keeps on biting his nails. Whenever he is engrossed in something, I see him biting his nails. I tried to dissuade him but he says that he does it unknowingly. Even his parents have also tried to get rid of his habit of nail biting. Why do children bite their nails? Read More...
Hello all, if your child has a habit of nail biting frequently and if you want to get rid of that habit you have to go slow. Being rough and *** your child is not going to work, in spite it will make him more nervous and scared leading to the increase in the habit. Do not punish or nag your child, he might be doing it unknowingly and may not be knowing it also. If he or she does not even know what they are doing then punishing and nagging are pretty useless things. These are habit which will gradually go.

It seems like tuition and coaching classes have become more like a fashion statement. Everybody is sending the kids to some classes or the other. Education has become commercialized. I do not want to send my kids to tuition as I feel that I can help them in their studies. Am I doing the right thing? My friend says that my kids might be missing out the good things. Am confused, need parenting tips. Read More...
Now-a-days all the schools and the education system has stepped up their levels academically. They have a good staff of teachers who are well educated and trained properly to teach children in school. All the teachers today are helpful enough to help the children if they are facing any kind of difficulty academically or personally. I personally think that if teachers are so helpful and if children are studying properly in the school then there is no requirement of tuitions to add up load on them. I feel these tuitions are just a waste of time and instead the child can repeat at home whatever he learnt in the school that day.
