Eat breakfast every day to help maintain concentration in class. A good breakfast should be able to provide a third of the total daily energy requirement. A typical breakfast includes a cereal, rice, bread, and oats, protein-rich food such as egg, a glass of milk and vitamin C rich fruit e.g. orange, and papaya. One study found that an overnight and morning fast among school children had deleterious effects on memory and attention. Empirical evidence from research on the effects of breakfast on cognition shows that particularly for younger children, skipping breakfast can have adverse effects on both general energy levels and cognition of school children.

Children misbehave and parents make them understand that behaving badly and back-answering is not good. Some children may not listen but children do and when they do it is necessary that you praise them and appreciate them for behaving properly. Keep appreciating the children when they behave well, this way they will be motivated and expecting more appreciation and for that they will try hard day by day so that you are impressed. Rewarding them for their good behaviour can also be a good option to boost their confidence and motivate them. This way they understand that you also notice their good behaviour and like it.

Consulting a paediatrician is normal but I feel it is sometimes absolutely useless as well. He will just follow up with the exam and see your child’s condition, do some health regarding tests. Then he will also ask you about your child’s diet and physical activities and then then you whether the child’s weight is an issue or is completely normal. He or she might even ask about your family history and the health conditions in the family. All of this information will help the paediatrician to analysis the weight of your child. If you wish you can definitely go to the doctor but I personally do not feel like doing so.

You should decide how you treat your child as you know your child completely in and out. You should plan all your outings taking in consideration all of your child’s habits and tantrums. You know your child’s schedule and also his behaviour when he is cranky or upset, when he is in good mood. If you suddenly plan to go to the mall with family and your child has had an incomplete nap he will surely act up and irritate you as he is not feeling fresh. Similarly if he is restless do not take him anywhere he might get fussy and annoyed.
It is important for us as parents to develop self-control in our children. Children are scared or hurt and that is one of the reason for their mischievous behaviour. If you get angry they try to act that way more and become more stubborn. It is also necessary to know that punishment does not help in this case. The child may feel guilty about herself and in spite of solving the problem it will become worse. The main aim is to find out the reason and try to solve that rather than shouting and scolding your children.
What should be done when kids stop listening to their parents? Is it correct to punish the child if he or she does not listen to his or her parents? What are effective ways to get kids to listen to parents? Read More...
Firstly remember that when your child is not listening to you do not shout at him, this will make him more stubborn and do that more. Just relax and take a step back, calm yourself and always remember your child is not doing all this intentionally. In this age all the children act the same and as said above all the children do not listen to their parents. You can ignore when the child does not listen to you when he watches TV or is playing, but make sure you ask him to repeat what you have said so that he remembers what you have said. This tactic can work a lot.
The last ten years has seen tremendous growth in the numbers of international schools in India and in particular, internationals schools in Mumbai. At a casual glance, we can ascertain that the reason behind this was the dissatisfaction with the state and national board schools, many from parents own personal experience of school. While international schools have become a popular choice for parents today, there are still many who are unsure of what are the exact benefits of having your child in one of them.
To truly understand these schools we should look at the many positive things that they bring to the academic environment rather than make a comparison with the state and national schools (though some unavoidable comparisons will appear). The reason behind this is that many international systems have been in existence for a number of years or are following on from older traditions in modern forms. It is important to understand that none of these systems are reactionary systems and have been developed to provide quality education.
1. Universally accepted certification: International schools offer universally accepted certification that ensures that your child does not miss out on any opportunities to study further. The certification boards are prestigious and maintain a high quality level and students that receive these certifications are held in high esteem by universities around the world.
2. A global syllabus for a global world: Thanks to information technology and liberalised economies the world has gotten more familiar with itself than at any time before. This creates a compulsion to make sure that knowledge of the world goes beyond just a hobby. International school syllabuses are tailor made so that students understand the differences and similarities of the world and are able to understand people from everywhere beyond the realm of language.
3. Multi-disciplinary syllabus: International schools offer a multi-disciplinary syllabus so students are under pressure to choose their specialised career paths at a young age. It also helps develop students that are proficient in a variety of knowledge bases that are beneficial in an environment where multi-speciality individuals are sought after in the working world.
4. Low student-to-teacher ratio: International school classrooms are much smaller than classrooms in standard Indian schools. This allows teachers to have more personal time with each student so that they get the most out of their learning years.
5. All-round education: Besides academics, international schools ensure that students also learn from a variety of non-academic subjects and programmes such as sports, dramatics, music and social service. All of these non-academic activities are important for the development of young, well adjusted and healthy minds. Read More...
Studying in an international school with students from all over the world is a very good opportunity to learn new things daily. It is a fact that the child’s communication skills will definitely develop when he deals with different kids. Sharing, caring and helping will be understood when all the children with different backgrounds have to cope together. In future this can be very useful when your child will have to deal overseas or with foreigners, these communication skills will help him out. I totally feel international schools are beneficial and I highly recommend parents to look forward to it.

My in laws do not stay with us, but they live nearby so while going to the office me and my husband leave my daughter at their place. My in law were kind and willing enough to take care of her and they could also get some quality time with her.I am really thankful to my in laws.
My son is 8 years old and his behavior had changed a lot in one year. Today we found that his blazer has some yellow color paint and told him he has to wear sweater instead of blazer. Also told since you went to the 'Art room' it must had happened from there. Then he had started claiming that he didn't do that. We agreed on the same, it had happened accidentally. After this talk he had started complaining that you both are always like this and you told get out, you beat me/you pinched me..we do punish him very rarely. Without remembering why did we punish him he is repeating the same sentences every now and then with exaggeration. How to make him understand how to talk to parents with respect?
